INDIA Land of the future – Land van de toekomst

India is with 1.4 billion inhabitants, after China, the largest country in the world according the number of inhabitants. India is a federal republic divided into 28 States, 8 Union Territories and 1 National Area (the capital). The Constitution in 1950 gave the citizens the power to choose their own government and paved the way for democracy.

In 2025 India will pass China in term of number of inhabitants: many of them have entrepreneurship in their genes, many have a decent education, many have a penchant for innovation, many speak fluent English, the middle class is growing.

While European and American regulators discuss how to restrict tech giants, India has already set up a ’tech stack’: the world’s largest open source interoperable and public digital infrastructure. In 2030 India is expected to be the world’s third biggest economy.

India invests in education and research and is rapidly developing into a hotspot for R&D and innovation. India is becoming an increasingly important partner for the Netherlands in the search for and discovery of innovative solutions to global challenges in areas such as affordable healthcare, high tech, water, ICT, agriculture, energy and sustainability. See recent running consortia agenda’s.

The Indian Government adopted the SDG’s as strategy already in 2018. Their National Institution for Transforming India (Niti Aayog) demonstrates SDG-results via the SDG-India-Index.
